LICENSING REQUIREMENT SHOULD BE INTRODUCED FOR LAND SALES

Land investment came to the forefront following the pandemic period. Subsequently, as buying a house became more difficult due to reasons such as the extraordinary rise in housing prices and the increase in loan interest rates, the demand for land grew even further. As the segment of the population unable to afford housing turned to land with the thought of 'can I reach a home through land?', the number of organizations offering this model in the sector also began to increase. While 1.5 million plots of land were sold last year, the market size is estimated to be 15 billion dollars.

Bülent Öztürk, the founder of arsaVev, which offers accessible real estate opportunities from land to housing, stated that a licensing requirement should be introduced for land sales to protect consumers and ensure the healthy growth of the sector, saying: "In some regions, our competitors are the local headmen (muhtars) or imams. They sell land because they know the area well. However, a licensing requirement must be imposed on those who sell land. Requirements for capital and staff with sufficient knowledge should be sought. If licensing is introduced, the sector will grow fivefold in 5 years."

5.3 MILLION SQUARE METERS OF SALES

Bülent Öztürk said that they have held one-on-one meetings with 442,000 people to date and have realized the sale of a total of 5,355,000 square meters of land—the size of 750 football fields—to approximately 14,000 people.
