Its Stones and Soil are More Precious Than 'Gold'
16.04.2026

Plots of land, which have stood out among investment tools recently, have earned their investors over 200 percent in one year.
The saying 'its stones and soil are gold' used to describe Istanbul is changing. Land investors earned 3 times more than gold investors in one year. Gram gold, which was sold for 966 liras on July 9, 2022, found buyers at 1630 liras exactly one year later on July 10, 2023. The one-year price change in gold was 68 percent. Compared to gold, which earned 68 percent in a year, price increases in plots of land, especially in the Istanbul region, exceeded 200 percent.
Real Estate Expert Bülent Öztürk, making a statement on the subject, stated that the demand for land has increased significantly day by day with the pandemic in 2022 and the subsequent earthquake disasters.
"PRICE INCREASES EXCEEDED 200 PERCENT"
Öztürk said, "In our analysis, we saw that the annual price increase of an average zoned plot of land was over 200 percent. Currently, both housing and land are gaining value well above the inflation rate, thus providing high profits to their investors."
"LAND HAS BECOME A SHORT-TERM INVESTMENT TOOL"
Öztürk said, "Since 2020, people have been seeing land as an investment tool. In our research, we see that a person who has invested in land makes another land investment within 5 years. We see that non-residential sales in real estate reached 58 percent in 2023."
